MDVH installs RollStream from Ferag
Relying on Ferag’s products
in the postpress processing
sector, Mitteldeutsche
Druck- and Verlagshaus (MDVH)
in Halle/Saale has invested in a
retrofit, and also in their RollStream
precollecting and MultiStack
bundling systems.
Each week, MDVH produces a total
of around 1.6 million copies of the
Mitteldeutschen Zeitung, which
appears six times a week, as well as
the weekly Wochenspiegel and
SuperSonntag – two advertising
titles that add up to some 1.1 million
copies. The upward circulation
trend for these freesheets reveals
a positive spin-off for supplement
business, which is one reason for
boosting performance and quality
when processing supplements and
preprints.
After a retrofit, two existing ETR
inserting drums (the third has been
decommissioned) are meeting set
demands to the complete satisfaction
of the customer. Moreover, a
MultiSertDrum (“8 in 1”) is operating
within a further inserting line in
combination with the UTR conveyor,
QAP compensating stacker and
evacuation system.
The ergonomic RollStream also
means that the printing centre
would achieve high net
performance with a minimum of
personnel. It’s down to the extreme
reliability of RollStream that two
further systems are planned for the
autumn of 2008.
