HP enters into newspaper printing

The HP Inkjet Web Press is
designed to deliver a combination

printheads across a continuousfeed
30-inch paper path and outputs
either to a rewind unit or finishing
devices.
By fully leveraging $1 billion+
investment in SPT, HP has built a
digital printing platform that
increases print productivity and
lowers the cost of printing for highvolume
commercial markets. By
putting this level of colour digital
printing power in the market, HP
aims to revitalize wasteful, lowmargin
printing processes driven by
the limitations of analogue print.
The key features of this new web
press: up to 30 inch (762mm) web
width, 400 feet (122 meters) per
minute speed, 4-colour variable data
printing at full speed, and fully
compatible with a wide range of
uncoated papers with next
generation 600 dpi.
This HP Inkjet Web Press is
designed to perform in high volume,
24/7 environments, and has a target
duty cycle of 70 million impressions
per month (letter sized, 4/0
impressions). It offers an
unprecedented combination of print
width, colour quality, productivity
and cost for industry professionals
in newspaper publishing apart from
direct mail, transactional and
transpromotional printing and book
publishing.
