New York Daily News chooses
NELA for their plate automation project

NELA, one of the largest register and plate automation companies in the printing industry came under a contract to be the pre-press and plate automation partner for the New York Daily News and their new KBA Commander CT press project. The installation is planned to be running at the end of this year.

Three NELA Evolution high-speed vision/trim/punch/bending systems will be able to process 320 single wide plates per hour per system. Each system will be connected to Krause/Fuji LS Jet CtP devices and Bluefin plate processor followed with a multi-position plate sorting system, transporting plates to the pressroom. The NELA Status Center and NELA Plate Sortation software will monitor the entire system, including CtP and plate processor and give feedback to the Krause/Wobe front-end system.

“We are very happy to be part of this press project and be able to close the link between pre-press and press,” said Jürgen Gruber, director of sales for NELA-USA.
