MassCoMedia : new kid on the block - a media institute with a difference
In today's world,
everything is moving so
fast...with it has
emerged a new era for
media...
the New Age Media,
which is no longer
the same... it's all
new and evolving,
at a much faster speed
as expected.
So to be frontrunner in
this challenging world,
we need to equip
ourselves with the best.
And for the best of
industry training, there
is MassCoMedia,
an institute with a
difference. A visit to the
institute proves that it is
indeed an institute
worth opting for.
MassCoMedia is a new age
media educational concept
created by influential
brains in media and education. Being
the first nodal institute to be located
in Noida, in the NCR region, it is the
brainchild of Naresh Nath, managing
chairman of Delhi Press and his son
Divesh Nath, director of Delhi Press,
one of the largest magazine
publishers and printers in the
country. Their deep knowledge
about the media world has helped
them a lot in planning the
infrastructure of courses as per the
industry’s ever-evolving demands,
under the able realms of Divesh Nath.
According to Naresh Nath, “We
have a vision of transforming the
student into a real professional in
one chosen field of media. With
resources of technology and first
grade training facilities on offer, our
endeavor is to make it among the
best communication schools in the
sub-continent.”
This brand new media mass
communication institute is an ideal
place to be for the one who wants
nothing but the best. Be it broadcast
journalism, TV production, print
journalism, animation or any other
allied areas, MassCoMedia has the
best offerings. To meet the
requirements of new age media
professionals, it has got wellequipped
infrastructure like industry
standard TV studios, non-linear
editing suites, radio studio,
photography studio, e-classrooms
and commercial content
development, etc. And offers
comprehensive and specialized
courses ranging from print media,
radio and television, both production
and journalism, to films, internet,
animation, special effects, gaming
and other allied areas like
advertising, corporate PR and event
management. It covers every aspect
of media business, you name it and
they have a specialized course for
it. “Our studios are so well equipped
that they are even available for
commercial use,” told Divesh.
As per Naresh, “In a democratic
setup like India, it is the Fourth
Estate - the Media - that is supposed
to shoulder the responsibilities of
a watchdog. The students of
MassCoMedia with their expertise
and focus, yet multi-disciplinary
approach, should be able to carry
forward the challenges of
presenting the facts before the world
objectively, intelligently and
without harming the social fabric of
the society.”
According to Divesh, as many as
100 students have enrolled this year,
of which the male and female ratio
is 50:50. “Interestingly, most of the
students have opted for our one year
diploma in broadcast journalism and
TV production,” he added.
Today’s media world knows no
boundaries…it is an international
thing. To be amongst the
forerunner, the institute has a tieup
with international and Indian
universities offering undergraduate
and postgraduate degree
programmes in mass communication
and broadcast journalism. Deakin
University in Australia allows the
student to study in India and get
a credit transfer facility to finish the
degree there. “So far, a batch of
seven students have enrolled for
this 3-year degree programme of
Bachelor of Arts in Media &
Communication,” told Divesh.
MassCoMedia offers a UGC
recognized degree from an Indian
university in journalism, mass
communication, broadcasting and
TV production. The institute
today boasts of the best faculty
members, including Prof Avinash
Singh as the executive director,
who was previously ex proctor of
Amity Institute of Mass
Communication. “We have a team
of eight faculty members and
fifteen visiting lecturers at our
institute,” told Divesh.
What makes MassCoMedia
students standout is the handson
training at institute that
empowers students to create
professional content right from
the beginning. And when they go
for placements, they are aware of
the work culture and industry
expectations. “Our courses
include 70% practical training as
such our students will be wellequipped
to face the challenges
of the media industry. For
placements of our students, we
have an exclusive arrangement
with Zee Group,” he added.
“Our student contributions are
recorded for MassCoMedia TV and
MassCoMedia radio, which can be
later offered for syndication as
well,” added Divesh.
Currently, they have 30,000 sqft
completely air-conditioned facility
in Noida, adjoining Delhi. The
management is also planning to set
up another facility of approx 9,500
sqm in Greater Noida, with a
capacity for 1,000 students besides
two big TV studios, hostel facility
for 800 students. MassCoMedia
has also plans to add a printing
technology training institute, with
the well-equipped infrastructure,
which will include heatset web press;
6–colour 28" x 40" sheetfed offset
with coater; 19" x 25" or 20" x 28"
single colour sheetfed offset; CtP;
automatic folding machine;
programme cutting machine; 3 knife
trimmer; multi clamp perfect binder;
saddle stitcher with auto feeder and
trimmer; and digital printing
machine as well. All these machines
will be used for on job training at
their Greater Noida facility.
With so much in store for the
students, the institute looks
promising and will be instrumental
in shaping the personnel for the
media industry, equally in print
and electronic.
“In a democratic setup
like India, it is the Fourth
Estate - the Media - that is
supposed to shoulder the
responsibilities of a
watchdog. The students of
MassCoMedia with their
expertise and focus,
yet multi-disciplinary
approach, should be able to
carry forward the
challenges of presenting
the facts before the world
objectively, intelligently
and without harming
the social fabric
of the society.”
