Flexibility pays off, for sure!
The fourth and fifth generation : father Bernhard and son Guillaume Riccobono

T

he French Groupe Riccobono is investing in Ferag technology for a successful future. Its new printing centres, Midi Print, Ouest Print and Paris Offset Print, are so configured that an immediate response is possible to most surprising customer demands. It’s a strategy that’s set to pay off.

The change in format for La Tribune was one such surprise. The new press had already been installed – configured for the classic large format. The new owners of this traditional financial newspaper soon decided on a future in Berliner format – a move that the Riccobono Group responded to quickly. Growth has been steady at Riccobono, not least because planning anticipates future customer wishes. The format of La Tribune is reduced efficiently and online in the Ferag SNT-U trimming drum, which meant that a job with a daily circulation of 100,000 copies could be retained. Such flexibility pays off for other production jobs as well: at Ouest Print in Bournezeau, western France, changes of format are also accomplished quickly, flexibly and economically, with Ferag’s SNT-U trimming drum enabling a new format for the Direct Soir freesheet.

To ensure a flexible response to customer wishes in the future, too, Riccobono has opted for Ferag technology – most recently at Paris Offset Print (POP), where the group has commissioned three new presses. Here, the trimming drum is coupled to two presses, to increase not only flexibility but also security. At POP, three UTR conveyors, six MultiStack units and a PKT bundle conveyor form the backbone for automated postpress processing from the press right through to the distribution vehicle.

Producing well-known national and international newspaper titles like Le Figaro, La Tribune, Libération and the International Herald Tribune, the three state-of-the-art printing centers owned by the Riccobono Group rely on Ferag technology in the mailroom.
