manroland targets on production efficiency and product value
Under the motto ‘We are
print’ the new manroland
came across as a highperformance
partner to the graphics
industry, a partner that is reliable,
groundbreaking, and determined.
Their five theme parks, including
Webfed, resolutely focused on
increasing production efficiency and
product value. “We demonstrated
that we are a high-performance
enterprise totally customer-oriented
with groundbreaking technology and
services expertise, and we radiate
fresh energy. We are very pleased
with new projects and orders received
from the sectors of commercial,
packaging and newspaper printing,”
summarised CEO Gerd Finkbeiner.
In the Webfed Park manroland
displayed landmark developments
in production efficiency. The
automatic APL plate changing
system on the COLORMAN was a
sensation because it is the first plate
changing system in the printing
industry to use robot technology.
A hot topic in the newspaper
segment is hybrid printing such as
heatset-coldset combinations. As
an alternative manroland was
showing an Innocure UV dryer on
the COLORMAN. Further drupa
themes were integration of inkjet
printing applications during
newspaper production.
A commercial web press exhibit was
a LITHOMAN with APL. After the
successful launch of the 80-page
LITHOMAN, manroland is already
taking the next step. The 96-page
LITHOMAN, and the printing unit
with a 2,860 millimeters web width
were demonstrated. At ROTOMAN
printing units visitors could see for
themselves how efficiently they
produce and this can be even
further improved with DynaChange
for plate changing at full press
speed. Moreover, the EUROMAN
attracted a lot of attention after its
brilliant start worldwide.
Besides, under the motto “radical
changes in newspaper publishing”
ppi Media - as co-exhibitor of
manroland - presented its latest
products and developments for
crossmedia use in print, online and
mobile at the show. In order to
integrate the planning, reservation,
production and publication of
online ads in an existing ppi
workflow, ppi Media has developed
an innovative solution that was
presented in Düsseldorf. The new
content flow system felix supports
media-compatible, target-groupspecific
processing of editorial
content for different output
channels. felix not only ensures
increased efficiency and
transparency in editorial topic
planning, content life-cycle
management and work organization,
but also creates the prerequisites
for an attractive advertising
environment.
Apart from publishing solutions,
new developments in printnet, the
joint workflow management system
for printing houses developed by
ppi Media and manroland, was also
at the focus of attention. The output
management system printnet OM
has been upgraded with a wide
range of new features and now
supports manroland’s new APL
(Automatic Plate Loading) system.
In order to use printing capacities
at newspaper printing houses to the
full, ppi Media has developed a
completely new version of its
JobEntry module. Equipped with a
preview function and a technical
feasibility check, the new JobEntry
system ensures maximum
transparency and security in
commercial newspaper production.
