Turkish newspapers save cost and improve quality
ProImage announced that the
installation base of their
solutions is increasing world
over. Recently, Hürriyet and
Milliyet, two of the largest
newspapers in Turkey, have
enhanced their ProImage Newsway
production workflow automation
solution by adding ProImage
OnColor ECO ink optimization
software, ProImage Ink Control
software, and changing from a TIFF
to the faster PDF workflow.
OnColor ECO ink optimization
software not only reduces colour
ink consumption and therefore
saves money, but also reduces the
publishers’ carbon footprint. After
the first two months in use colour
ink usage has reduced by an
estimated significant 19 percent.
According to Kerem Çetinsaraç,
technical manager of Dogan Print
Centre, Istanbul plant, “We have
observed the improving quality of
printed products since using
OnColor ECO. It automatically
analyzes PDF files and determines
the exact amount of ink needed to
produce the best quality, thereby
decreasing the CMY content on the
page, and replacing the reduced
CMY ink with K. This enhances the
highlight detail in photographs and
reduces set-off due to the use of
lesser ink.” ProImage Ink Control
software also automates the process
of sending the correct ink data from
each RIPed page pair to the existing
PECOM press control system.
Besides, French newspapers
Journal de Saône et Loire, Le
Monde Imprimerie and La
République du Centre have also
invested in OnColor ECO to
optimize ink use as well as achieving
additional productive benefits.
In France, Nouvelle République du
Centre Ouest has been using
OnColor ECO software for more
than a year. In their case, ink savings
are currently at around 20%, apart
from print quality going up.
