The future of newspaper in urban area of our country
For a quite long time, people were content to a regular habit – wait until their hawkers
delivered morning newspaper to read out what had gone on in across the world the
day before. But the fast rise and the global inter-connectedness
through the internet has shattered that thinking. Now, we want news
in almost real time, getting up-to-dates as actually events are happening.
Any news of newspaper will be old by the time it is printed, in other
words no longer it will be news.
Content really is the kind in journalism and what matters is the information.
Some of us would argue for the aesthetic qualities of an average newspaper.
The cheap newsprint is simply a tool for transporting the news and
events of the day. With the invention of channels, cable television had discovered that there
was a lust for news 24 hours a day. Big newspapers have elaborated websites where stories
are sent sooner they are written, as soon as events take place.
One after another industry looks at itself and asks about its future in a digital era. But the
fact remains, much of the newspaper industry has decided to resist the opportunity given
by digital. Though they have ignored or tried to resist the changes taking place all around
them in other media yet computers and technology have long played a big role in the composing
of news stories and the creation of the newspaper itself. However, these changes in production
were nothing in comparison to what the future would bring. Like more than one television
set is common these days, there would be more than one computer in each house right from
kitchen, breakfast table to bedroom besides the keyboard in urban society in our country.
The internet and digital delivery has created the idea of how news is gathered and distributed.
So, the days are not too far when the readership of newspaper would be dropped and we
will sit down at our laptop and enjoy the same newspaper.
