Becomes the only one company in the Arab world to get two
out of three WAN IFRA Best in Print – Asia Media Awards

One of the leading high quality printing and publishing companies in the Middle East region, United Printing and Publishing (UPP) has won the WAN IFRA Best in Print – 11th Asia Media Awards 2012 in the category of a daily circulation below 1,50,000 copies. The competition, participated by the best of organisations in Asia Pacific, South Pacific and Middle East, decides on a winner after three challenging rounds of printing. The essence of the competition is to determine the winner - best capability to conform to ISO (International Standards Organisation) standard in printing. Notably, this year for Asia Media Awards 2012, WAN-IFRA has defined two categories for Best in Print: 1) Daily circulation above 1,50,000 copies, and 2) Daily circulation below 1,50,000 copies. In each category there are three awards: Gold, Silver and Bronze. In the category of daily circulation below 1,50,000 copies, UPP won two out of three awards for the first time, becoming the only one in the Arab world to get these two out of three WAN IFRA Best in Print – Asia Media Awards wherein the competition was participated by the companies like: Masar Printing and Publishing with titles Al Bayan & Emarat Al Youm from Dubai, UAE; Al-Yaum Media House with title Al-Yaum Newspaper from Dammam, Saudi Arabia; Okaz Organization for Press & Publication with title Okaz – raues Papier from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; and Galadari Printing & Publishing (LLC) with title Khaleej Times from Dubai, UAE.

“There are certain outstanding achievements in our performance. In the specific category (less than 1,50,000 copies print order), we won each of the three rounds and obviously the overall competition with the title Al Ittihad bagging the Gold award. Even more remarkable, we won each of the three rounds amongst all participating categories in the competition. In the same category, we also won Bronze award with the title The National. Many of the formidable competitors whom we beat were the ones whom most of the newspaper printing presses want to be on par with their global benching objectives,” conveyed Ali Saif Al Neaimi, chief executive officer of United Printing and Publishing.

“We have beaten all the leading newspaper printing presses of Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Japan and India in Asia Pacific, South Pacific and Middle East region with the title Al Ittihad and The National,” added Ali Neaimi.

An ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 18001certified company, United Printing and Publishing (UPP) has emerged as one of the largest commercial as well as newspaper print companies in the UAE, equipped with the state-of-the-art printing facility situated in Abu Dhabi. Established in early 1970’s as a part of the prestigious ADMC (Abu Dhabi Media Company) headquartered in Abu Dhabi, and previously known as the Emirates Media Inc, UPP started its operation under the new name and style in the year 2006.

“Our web machines include KBA Continent, Orient, Hi-line, KBA 213, KBA 215, and manroland Rotoman, and our sheetfed machines include two 8-colour perfecting presses, one 6-colour press, three 5-colour presses and two 4-colour presses. We also have digital machines for small run jobs and outdoor equipment for billboards, POS etc,” added Ali Neaimi. Besides, state-of-the-art binding lines include four perfect binding machines and three saddle stitching machines with 8 stations capable of producing up to 20,000 books/magazines per hour. Al Ittihad, The National, Financial Times and 7 Days are the four newspapers printed at ‘United Printing & Publishing’ (UPP).
