Foundations set to secure the
digital growth at Publish Asia
The 16th edition of Publish Asia, concluded recently in Bangkok, pulled a horde
of Asian news media moguls to a series of exciting, learning and networking
conferences. The three-day affair brought fruitful discussions on building secure
foundations for growth in digital era.

WAN-IFRA’s Publish Asia 2015
in Bangkok attracted more than
300 delegates, 40 speakers from
17 different countries for 19 conferences,
three break-out sessions, several in-depth
pre-conference master classes, a technology
and services expo featuring 21 sponsors
and exhibitors and two glamorous evening
networking events.
The 16th edition of the annual event set a
focus on case studies showing how media
companies across the globe are defining
and implementing innovative strategies to
consolidate their print operations while
building up sound foundations to secure
digital growth. The key sessions covered
included: Global Media Trends, Audience
Development, The Resilience for Print,
Diversifying Revenue Streams, From
Newspaper to Broadcaster, Using Data
& Analytics to Increase Profitability,

Key speakers
Among the key speakers at Publish Asia
2015 included some reputed figures from
Asian new media houses and those based
in the continent, namely, Ludwig Coenen,
head of online marketing at Frankfurte
Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ), one of Germany’s
most respected quality daily; Helje Solberg,
CEO/editor of VGTV, Schibsted's web-native
TV venture; Kirk MacDonald, president
of AdTaxi and executive vice president of
sales for Digital First Media, which jointly
manages Journal Register Company and
MediaNews Group; Thepchai Yong, group
editor-in-chief of Nation Multimedia Group,
a multi-media company that operates two
digital TV channels and three dailies; Mark
Pope, MD of Dow Jones Asia Pacific
and Publisher of The Wall Street Journal
Asia; Dushyant Khare, head of Google's
partnerships business with top digital &
mobile publishers across India and South-
East Asia.
Media awarded
The 13th edition of Asian Media Awards,
organised on the sidelines of Publish Asia
2015, gathered a record of 595 entries from
all over Asia and the Middle East competing
for excellence in printing quality, design,
infographics, photography, editorial content,
newspaper marketing and community service.
The Best in Print Awards were sponsored
by manroland web systems.
More then 30 judges from international
media companies from 17 different countries
evaluated the entries to select 45 winners,
who were honoured with the prestigious
awards at a gala opened by Thai prime
minister Prayut Chan-o-cha at Thailand
Convention and Exhibition Bureau in
Bangkok. The South China Morning Post
(Hong Kong), Singapore Press Holdings
(Singapore) and The New Straits Times
(Malaysia) were among the top winners of
the Asian Media Awards 2015.
