Jagran Group launches
coffee table book on shrines of Bihar

Jagran Prakashan Ltd launches yet another coffee table book (JCTB), this time on the shrines (Mazaars) of Bihar in Patna. State’s chief minister Nitish Kumar unveiled the book in presence of senior Jagran colleagues and state bureaucrats at the ceremony marked by sufi music chants by a prominent local singing group. Terming it as a landmark development in the field of sufism’s discourse, the CM vouched for more such literature on sufi philosophy, which is acknowledged as a ‘liberating’ paradigm pan religions across the world. Titled Sufiya-e-Bihar, the book features more than 55 shrines from across the state, which hold a special place in the religious canvas of the region. The book is about Khanquahs, Dargahs and Mazaars traversing the route for Ziyarat and Namaaz at these revered shrines. The book gives a vivid picture of these places of devotional importance in this genre in the state. With the focus on the historical beliefs and legends associated with them, their unique features, including architecture and general description of the layout and landscape, the book captures the essence of these shrines from visitors’ vantage point too.

Speaking at the launch, Sunil Gupta, director, JPL emphasised on the importance of the book, “The book is a tribute to sacred beliefs and legends associated with the holy Dargahs. With each one having a special place in the people’s heart, this publication would be a custodian of faith as much as it is a collector’s delight.” Previously Jagran group had come up with books on temples of Bihar and Jharkhand. Sufiya-e-Bihar, the 148-page book, priced at Rs 1,200 is overall 7th coffee table book from the group. “Our endeavour is to bring out books that are different, exotic and relevant. The book like this and previous ones by Jagran Group cater to the spiritual tastes of the people, which are enriching and lasting. We look forward to launching more such books in future,” revealed Alok Sanwal, project head, JCTB and COO, i next.
