McClatchy’s bid to buy Tribune Publishing reportedly broken down

McClatchy Co’s bid to buy Tribune Publishing, owner of Chicago Tribune, Baltimore Sun, and Daily News, has reportedly broken down. Or at least the chance to talk exclusively has expired. According to a source, Tribune Publishing is now meeting with other potential buyers, which reported that the talks ended without a deal. Originally, there was speculation that McClatchy’s bid would come in around $18 a share. But given the steady migration downward of the stock in recent time from the six-month high of $16.60 it hit in November last year.
