Memory Repro Systems going for full automation of its pre-press solutions for newspapers

Since ‘automation’ is a new paradigm in the newspaper industry, Memory Repro Systems has been into the new shift to make its pre-press product portfolio fully automated. Sanjeev Chadha, Managing Director, Memory Repro Systems (P) Ltd tells All About Newspapers about the company’s pre-press products for newspaper production and further development plan.

Memory Repro Systems boasts a complete range of plate punch & bender machines which are adopted by the leading OEMs in India and overseas. Manugraph, Pressline India, Prakash Web Offset, to name a few, are some web offset manufacturers in India, using Memory Plate Punch & Bender machines. “Our Video Plate Punch & Bender is designed keeping in mind the growing demand for CtP in commercial and newspaper presses,” says Sanjeev Chadha.

Memory plate punch & bender for web offset presses consists of twin CCD coloured camera with 80x magnification. The optical sensor of the machine is designed for actuating conveyor for transport of plates for punching and bending in one cycle. There is three point Register System for pre-alignment. Servo controlled 3 Axis table with suction in the system ensures aligning of the register mark on the plates with the present master for accurate punching and bending.

The system can handle plate size of 900×650 mm with output speed of upto 200 plates per hours. The range includes pneumatic plate punchers and benders, which are available in both manual and automated models. “Our plan is to make the machines fully automated, which will make the ease of operation and accuracy in outputs,” mentions Sanjeev, adding that the machines can be connected in-line to all types of CtP setters.

In addition, PRIM Color Register Control & Cut-off is yet another key product from the company, now picking up popularity in the Indian newspaper printing industry. “Our register management system is designed to the need of the country’s newspaper industry. As on today, more than 80 towers across the country have equipped with our Colour Registration System,” says Sanjeev. Eenadu in Andhra Pradesh is one of the newspapers which have equipped PRIM on more than 75 towers.

“It’s quite obvious that there are some international colour registration companies now actively mark their presence in the Indian newspaper printing industry. We are also making our PRIM at par with the international players. Our aim is to meet the need of the industry without compromising in terms of quality and consistency, which we maintain today to an utmost level,” asserts Sanjeev, adding that the company is looking ahead to making the system a yardstick of high-level colour registration.

Memory printing blankets are widely popular in the web offset printing arena in India. The products are designed with extreme dimensional stability, better compressibility, higher tensile strength and high smash resistance for both heatset and coldest web offset presses. “The coldest blanket is a unique high performance concept of radial cord carcass now applied in a specifically compressible printing blanket for high speed newspaper presses for blanket to steel and blanket to blanket configuration,” explains Sanjeev. Moreover, Memory is channel partner of the Dutch company GWS Printing Systems, which deals in used web offset presses and other machines and equipments for the newspaper printing industry. “GWS sells a range of used equipments, which include our Plate Punch & Bender machines in the overseas. We have tried up with them to sell their used web offset presses in India, which are high-end brands available in their portfolio. Hopefully we are installing some presses soon in near future,” mentions Sanjeev. When asked about their future plan he says they will have to make everything ‘fully automated’ and their focus is also on SPM (Special Purpose Machines) as well.
