News publishers in APAC upbeat about tangible business results
After participating in Facebook’s Video Accelerator programme, news publishers in APAC are seeing tangible business results. Those attending Facebook’s 2019 Video Accelerator have reported an 82 percent increase in overall metrics (including number of video views, engagements, shares and volume of videos produced) for videos produced during the Video Accelerator versus their prior averages. Metrics used to quantify performance include the number of video views on Facebook and YouTube, and engagement and shares on social media platforms.
Video Accelerator success highlights include: Over 5.6 million views for Khaosod’s (Thailand) story covering an athlete who overcame obstacles; Over 3.6 million views for Kompas TV’s (Indonesia) story showcasing the use of technology and social media during the Hong Kong protests; Over 2.7 million views for ABS-CBN News’ (Philippines) report exploring how different generations view the evolution of photography and a standalone digital video production unit was established by GMA News (Philippines), this unit is now producing original video including a series on mental health in isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic.
