Newsquest to launch new Salford weekly and Teesside edition of Northern Echo

Newsquest is launching a new paid-for weekly newspaper and daily website covering the city of Salford, Greater Manchester, with plans to recruit local reporters who know the area. Salford City News printed its first edition, with a cover price of 80p, and launch online at salfordcitynews.co.uk on 24 January. The regional publisher is also launching a new edition of daily the Northern Echo covering Teesside the same day, responding to reader demand. Salford is already covered by Reach-owned daily newspaper Manchester Evening News, which has a circulation of 33,600 copies.
