Owner of Daily Mail enquires i newspaper

DMGT, publisher of Daily Mail, has bought the i newspaper and its website for £49.6m from JPI Media. A statement from the owner of DMGT mentions that the paper was ‘a highly respected publication with a loyal and engaged readership’ and they are committed to preserving its distinctive, high-quality and politically independent editorial style. In the year 2018, the i reported an operating profit of £11m from total sales of £34m. The new deal means i newspaper will have its fourth owner so far. The i was launched in 2010 as a sister paper to The Independent, selling at 65p on weekdays and £1.20 on Saturdays.
