The New York Times brings back summer pop-up newsletter for a second season

Summer is fleeting, as is the summer newsletter of The New York Times. It is returning for its second year. In the intervening winter months, the newspaper surveyed readers and applied what they learned to the newsletter’s second summer — here are some of the changes they’re making: Readers loved the 2018 newsletter — it had more than 80,000 subscribers by the end of the summer — but also found it to be too long. So it’s being cut this year, from around 2,200 words to 1,200 (and hopefully won’t get cut off on mobile so much). Readers wanted more free and cheap activities, and The New York Times is making room for those as well as a dedicated section for reader feedback.
