Winners of 12th Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Award announced

Ravish Kumar of NDTV India, bagged the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Award in Hindi broadcast category, while Congress MP Shashi Tharoor won the award for his book An Era of Darkness: The Age of British Empire in India. Others in the list of winners of the prestigious awards are Rahul Kotiyal of Satyagrah.scroll.in and in the Hindi print category, Reshma Sanjeev Shivadekar of Loksatta, won the award in the Regional Language category. Vice-president M Venkaiah Naidu handed over the awards to 27 winners – in 25 categories, including print and broadcast.

The winners were chosen by an eminent jury out of more than 800 entries. The Express Group instituted the awards in journalism in 2006 as part of the centenary year celebrations of its founder, Ramnath Goenka. Over the years, the awards have become the gold standard of journalism honours in India, the ultimate recognition that every outstanding journalist working in the country searches for today.
