Best Special COVID-19 project as new category in South Asian Digital Media Awards 2020

South Asian Digital Media Awards 2020 presented by WAN-IFRA recognise publishers who have adopted digital media and mobile strategies as part of their total product offering to meet the major changes in how people consume news and information today. Now, everything has been benchmarked with outstanding digital projects from news organisations from across South Asia.

With entries from most prestigious digital media competition in the news publishing industry in the region, South Asian Digital Media Awards 2020 will be another milestone to recognise some of the best media projects. These awards recognise South Asian publishers who have delivered unique and original digital media projects in the last 12 months.

From new approaches to digital subscriptions to impactful native advertising campaigns, projects received at the annual awards are impactful and inspiring. This year new two categories have been added in context of the ongoing pandemic impact and perspective on how news media companies transpire and involve in fighting against one of the biggest threats to human race has ever faced till date.

The two new categories are: Best Project for News Literacy and Best Special Project for COVID-19, with the others such as Best News Website or Mobile Service, Best in Lifestyle, Sports, Entertainment Website or Mobile Services, Best Use of Online Video (including VR), Best Data Visualisation, Best Paid Content Strategy (including pay wall, membership or crowd funding models), Best Native Advertising /Branded Content Campaign, Best in Audience Engagement, and Best Marketing Campaign for News Brand

The WAN-IFRA South Asian Digital Media Awards are opened to news media companies and entities affiliated with the news media industry in South Asia. Entries are from news media organisation, news media organisation representative, advertising agency, or public relations firm working on the company’s behalf. Participants send more than one entry per category. All entries are those works which have been published between November 1, 2019 and August 30, 2020.

Syndicated material or campaigns that are not specifically prepared for a particular news media company are not eligible. WAN-IFRA reserves the right to disqualify any entry that fails to conform to the rules. The finalists will be announced on November 30, 2020. The winners of WAN-IFRA South Asian Digital Media Awards will be part of the World Digital Media Awards competition.
