PIB informed to verify circulation of newspapers
Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B) has assigned PIB (Press Information Bureau) with the task of verifying the country’s circulation of newspapers. For the task, regional and branch offices of the bureau have been alerted with the sanctions of additional Rs 50 lakh and Rs 70 lakh. The ministry allocates a host of designated officers in the PIB branches alongside the respective publications they have to check circulations. As long as the ministry has ordered to verify circulations of all regional as well as national newspapers, some of the big names included in the list consist of The Indian Express, DNA, etc. What PIB is going to take charge was earlier the duty of undertaken by RNI (Registrar of Newspapers of India).
