Wonderfully arranged Wedding Vows!
In a country like India where wedding is more of a big fat celebration than a momentary
ritual, Wedding Vows magazine presents this vibrant nupital tradition very much as a part
of lifestyle. Dakshna Moorthy N Naidu, chief editor and publisher, Wedding Vows talks to
Janani Rajeswari S about the magazine’s genesis and successful journey so far.

There are quite a number of magazines
covering all lifestyle-related
categories. But magazine exclusively
dedicated to wedding is something of a rare
kind. All information related to weddings
is always found to be scattered. In order
to fill this cavity, Dakshna Moorthy N
Naidu wanted to come up with a magazine
that would be one-stop coverage of all
wedding needs. “Particularly in India where
wedding is an integral part of our lifestyle,
I felt wedding and all aspects related to
it needed to be covered in an informative
and entertaining way,” he asserts.
Wedding Vows is now in its fourth successful
year. The magazine was launched after
much deliberation and the very first issue
covered all aspects of wedding, featuring
budget planner, checklist of wedding planners
and more, which have been developed and
perfected over time. “Our readers keep
appreciating the content and overall quality
of the magazine. This growing support
from readers and well wishers have greatly
motivated us over the last four years,”
mentions Dakshna adding that people enjoy
reading topics such as beauty, fashion,
travel and many other facets of weddings
in Wedding Vows.
Topics of coverage
USP of Wedding Vows is its A-Z coverage
of wedding and the magazine is very much
meant for those would-be brides and grooms,
their family members, etc. “Our contents
provide arrangements in pre-wedding,
wedding and post-wedding stages. We also
have a comprehensive section dedicated
exclusively to shopping, that is an important
element in any Indian wedding,” asserts
Dakshna. He adds that the magazine explores
other aspects of wedding, covering makeup,
honeymoon travel, food, gift, relationship
and many more. Of course, Wedding Vows
covers different themes every month based
on the wedding season or what’s trending.
The magazine also comes up with special
issues dedicated to topics such as food,
festive, jewellery, so on.
Readers digest
Wedding Vows boasts of a strong editorial
team that looks deeply into the current
trends of the industry, based on which
the wealthy content of the magazine is
developed. “We do a lot of reader feedback
campaigns to understand their tastes better
and accordingly we improve our content. It
also helps to have a theme in every issue
that corresponds to a particular season. For
example, an issue on ‘Summer Travel’ or
a gifting themed issue during Christmas,
something like this continues sequentially,”
shares Dakshna.
Little bit of challenge
Initially, Wedding Vows was started as a
South India-centric magazine. After receiving
a warm response from regular readers, the
magazine has spread its readership at pan
India level, but in a challenging way. “This
has indeed been an editorial challenge and
has pushed us further. Another challenge is
that people often consider us as a purely
wedding related magazine. But in reality,
we also cover lifestyle related aspects that
any reader can relate to,” asserts Dakshna.
Every unique issue
On the magazine’s quality control, Dakshna
elucidates, “Yes. Quality and content are
unique in every issue of Wedding Vows.
We are constantly innovating through
our theme-based issues. Additionally, our
magazine follows a format that allows
readers to organise themselves in whichever
stage of weddings they are in. We have
also introduced unique tools in form of
inserts, such as the ‘Honeymoon Checklist’,
‘Wedding Planner’, and even a ‘Wedding
Budget Calculator’, which are all unique,
fun and useful tools for those planning a
memorable wedding.”
Each issue of Wedding Vows is ensured to
be with informative and engaging topics.
Some of the interesting regular columns
in the magazine include Photography,
Informative Tips, Fashion, Food for Lust,
Planners, among other striking ones.
To next levels
“We have developed Wedding Vows as a
brand rather than a typical magazine. Our
social media presence is growing on daily
basis with over two lakh fans on Facebook.
We have become an official verified by
Facebook page through the organic 'likes'
generated on the page by our quality content.
We are looking forward to extending
ourselves into the online medium and
reaching out through real-time interactions
and by offering unique experiences to our
readers,” remarks Dakshna.
A new website of the magazine is now
underway, which will have rich content
designed for brides and grooms, their
families as well as those who are in the
business and looking for ways to enhance
their establishments in the wedding industry.
“This year, we launch My Wedding Vows,
India’s first personalised magazine, extending
our innovation to our audiences. In addition
to participating in a lot of events, we look
at organising a few of our own," says
Dakshna concluding that they are planning
to develop some interesting apps for their
readers in near future.
