Asian Media Awards 2013 aims to
promote the highest publishing standards

-Hundreds of newspapers and magazines
in Asia Pacific, South Asia and Middle-East
have taken part in the competition

To be held in conjunction with WAN-IFRA India Conference & Expo during September 11-13, 2013 in Bangalore, Asian Media Awards 2013 aims to promote the highest publishing standards in the fields of newspaper and magazine designs, infographics, printing, editorial content, marketing, community service and photojournalism. Hundreds of newspapers and magazines in Asia Pacific, South Asia and Middle-East have taken part in the competition. Over the last eleven years, the awards have been established as the most prestigious recognition of excellence for the news publishing industry in the region. This year, the award categories include: Best in Print, Best in Design, Best in Editorial Content, Best in Infographics, Best in Photojournalism, Best in Newspaper Marketing, and Best in Community Service.


The accolades
‘Best in Print’ awards will be presented to newspapers deserving recognition for their excellence in standardised printing. The focus of this award is to show the ability of newspapers to print consistently high quality according to international ISO standards. ‘Best in Design’ for newspaper and magazine design awards will be presented to entries whose overall design, originality and content have achieved levels of excellence deserving recognition. ‘Best in Editorial Content’ award recognises articles published in a newspaper’s regular section or in a special section that demonstrates high standards of reporting and writing for exploring a topic or issue of significance. ‘Best in Infographics’ award aims to recognise excellence in design, usefulness and clarity of information conveyed in both breaking news and non-breaking news in newspaper and magazine infographics.

‘Best in Photojournalism’ competes with the very best in photography in the industry! Open to newspaper and wire service photographers as well as freelancers the award will recognise the photographer’s visual creativity (originality of perception and treatment) and his ability to expand knowledge or understanding of an issue through an effective use of his medium and technical skills. ‘Best in Newspaper Marketing’ award will recognise successful campaigns for marketing the news publishing company’s brand or image to readers in order to increase circulation, subscriptions and brand awareness. And ‘Best in Community Service’ award aims to acknowledge the most innovative and valuable efforts by the media company in service to its community.

All winners will be granted the exclusive usage of a special icon illustrative of their achievement and representing – for each category – the gold, silver and bronze awards. The awards will be presented at Publish Asia and WAN-IFRA India Expo 2013 scheduled to be held in Bangalore on September 11-13, 2013. The conferences and expo will provide best in class learning and networking experiences to all participants. Winners will be entitled to display this distinctive WAN-IFRA recognition of excellence in their publication as well as in all their corporate communications or marketing materials.
