Ethiopian printer propelled with
two new PRESSLINE web presses
Berhanena Selam Printing Enterprise (BSPE) in Ethiopia
is a popular printer of newspapers, magazines and a bunch
of commercial items for a number of customers across
the African country. The company has invested in two
PRESSLINE Prima presses, which are now undergoing
installation and expected to come in production by
September. Here’s a sneak peek into this
development linked to ‘Make in India’ concept.

Commercial printing at BSPE
takes up a huge task to deliver
a long list of items, such as
cards, fliers, posters, brochures, etc.
In addition, agenda and security
printing is very much a part of the
task, in which the company churns
large volume of lottery tickets,
bus passes, bank cheques, driving
licences, question papers and related
documents for national examinations.
The company also provides sales &
services of special printing products
as well as stationary items like
writing pads, block notes, to mention
a few. Now that the adoptions of two new
PRESSLINE Prima presses have brought
extra robustness to its production setup
in Addis Ababa, BSPE is gearing up
for delivering finest quality prints in all
parameters, whether it could be in printing
of newspapers, books or commercial items.
Big infrastructure boost
The two PRESSLINE Prima web offset
machines at BSPE are featured with two
double roll stands with auto splicers, two
four-high towers. Folders in the presses are
equipped with quarter and double parallel
folds and upper former. This arrangement
is configured in the cut-offs of 546 mm
and 578 mm. Further, the printing unit is
equipped with Perretta Auto Inking Systems
with Auto Register and Lincoln Auto Ink
Pumping System. And both the folders are
attached to stackers.
African connection
Making the newly delivered Prima web
offset presses a friendly marvel to the
machine operators and other relative staffers
of BSPE, PRESSLINE India arranged a
training session conducted at the production
facility of the African printer. Both the
machines are now in the installation phase,
which is scheduled to be finished soon
in September and production may start
right away from the same
month. PRESSLINE India
is known for delivering its
line of web offset machines
to a number of African
printing firms, contributing
to almost 27 percent of
India’s total engineering
exports to Africa. The
count has constantly been
increasing. And the need
of the hour is to upgrade
the India-made machines
to spur the exports to this
vast continent.
