PRINT 17 brings chance to
experience latest print innovations


Rated to be one of the leading international trade exhibitions, PRINT 17 has set as yet another ‘can’t-miss-event’ for everyone who would like to grab everything innovative from design to delivery in an expansive show floor. ALL ABOUT NEWSPAPERS captures some key exhibitors showing cutting-edge products and technologies for the newspaper industry at the expo.

On the show floor of every edition of PRINT is a swarm of eager trade visitors turning up to see the demonstration of cutting-edge technologies, new applications and services. The expo always keeps up-to-date on the industry trends and issues. To be organised from September 10-14 at McCormick Place in Chicago, PRINT 17 will be a meeting point gathering 450 exhibitors from all spheres of the printing industry, including the newspaper sector.

FUJIFILM North America (Stall 2013) showing its product range, which consists of plates for most applications, including newspaper presses. The CtP line from the company is lo-chem or chemical free. LH-NN2 is a high speed, negative working thermal plate designed for newspaper printers. For both newspaper and commercial segments, FUJIFILM’s FNE is a negative working conventional plate. In the category, LP-NNV is also a negative working high-speed plate. Newspaper houses utilising a violet platesetter, Superia Ecomaxx-VN from the company provides a simple processing system in a single step finishing solution. These are part of what FUJIFILM North America is presenting at PRINT 17.

With added value and quality over other conventional ink brands, INX International (Stall 2302) boasts of its chemical formulation to produce its range of printing and coating inks designed for diverse applications, including newspaper. Those looking for special inks for coating and newspaper printing on the show floor can embark upon what INX International is presenting at the expo. The company is uniquely positioned to assist its customers with the right inks, consultation and service for a wide variety of applications employing an even wider array of printing technologies and substrates.


A glimpse of crowds at the PRINT 16
With its banner slogan ‘People & Print’, KBA North America (Stall 213) will be a show-stopper at PRINT 17 as the company is presenting its whole range of machines and technologies in a big way. Headquartered at Würzburg in Germany, KBA) is the oldest and second largest manufacturer of presses of all kinds, comprising sheetfed, web offset and others. The company is showing its Lithographic Web Offset Non-Heatset 16 Page Format, 4 Page Format, Mini Format, among others at the expo.

Leading German web offset press manufacturer manroland web systems (Stall 1067), which produces a line of widely acclaimed newspaper presses and allied equipments, is showing its products and technologies at PRINT 17. The company is notable for its remarkable web offset printing and digital inline-finishing systems, which trade visitors at the expo could catch live. Some of the manroland web systems presses, popular all across the globe, include COLORMAN e:line; COLORMAN; COLORMAN XXL; CROMOMAN 4-1; CROMOMAN; GEOMAN; GEOMAN e:line.

The presses like GEOMAN e:line, REGIOMAN and UNISET from manroland web systems are designed for versatile production of newspapers and books. Recently, the company has forayed into packaging and label printing arenas as they have introduced PECOM-X drive, a workflow management system to form a one-system solution. Also the company has joined hands with NOVEXX Solutions for label printing.

Manugraph America (Stall 769), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Manugraph India, is taking part in the expo showing its widely accepted cost-effective presses used in a number of newspaper houses all across the globe. Being the first Indian company to have achieved a breakthrough in exporting ‘Made in India’ presses of 35,000–70,000 cph in the overseas markets, Manugraph has emerged as a thriving, nimble, press manufacturer because of the company’s ability to adapt into competitive economy and its commitment to supply all choices of their customers. In the niche 4-page newspaper offset printing press market, Manugraph owes its strong position as a supplier of press accessories and peripherals.

A leader in sustainable green technology, Mitsubishi Imaging (Stall 2655) has a long history of success serving the imaging needs of the photographic, inkjet and graphic art industries in North and South America. At the PRINT 17, the company is presenting a line of products, which include consumables, chemicals and presses, designed for diverse printing parameters, comprising newspaper. At the expo, trade visitors can choose exactly the right products to grow their business from innovative and ecological CTP and workflow solutions, to premium newspaper presses. The company boasts of its broadsheet Mitsubishi Diamondspirit-SA newspaper press, a top choice for leading newspaper houses across the world. The press with 4x4 tower printing units can run at the speed of 75,000 cph with a cut-off of 546mm and a web width of 1,400mm.

Muller Martini (Stall 625), a brand known primarily for its premium newspaper mailroom systems, will be taking part in the expo. Main showcase from the company will include its whole range of products, including finishing and binding equipments. Moreover, saddle stitching, stapling, gluing systems, glue control systems, stackers, automatic trimmers, among others will be in the line of products Muller Martini is presenting at PRINT 17.

Yet another player known for producing in-line systems for offset plate production, NELA (Stall 4507) has globally delivered its fully integrated automatic plate production systems. At the expo, trade visitors could expect the company’s plate production systems, such as plate loaders for CTP exposure devices, plate transport systems, plate storage, optical register punching and bending machines, and plate sorting units. In addition, for total production control, NELA offers control center software designed to communicate with editorial systems as well as production planning systems.

PRINT 17 has been geared up as a platform where exhibitors could interact with their existing customers as well as a robust mix of first-timers from all around the globe. Apart from an exhibition, 50 co-located industry conferences, meetings, networking events and receptions will be part of the five-day trade expo.


Publish Asia 2017 in Kuala Lumpur
to strengthen print in digital era

Strengthening print in the digital era—this is what Publish Asia 2017 at Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia is going to discuss about. The two-day conference will take place from April 18-20 at Le Meridien Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, assembling a league of industry leaders in the list of keynote speakers from Asia. More than 300 media executives will gather at the Publish Asia 2017 in Kuala Lumpur. The conference will address the management and business issues facing newspaper publishers and examine by emerging new business models and revenue streams.

Main focus of the Publish Asia 2017 will be on repositioning and optimising today’s news publishing business with an emphasis on print, which represents the core of our industry.
