Nine Indian newspaper
printers enter INCQC 2014-16
With an interval of every two years over
the past 20 years, WAN-IFRA offers
newspapers around the globe an opportunity
to demonstrate their colour printing
excellence by organising a print quality
competition. And for the tenure 2014-16,
nine leading newspaper houses from
India have qualified as members
of the International Newspaper
Color Quality Club (INCQC).

A total of 165 newspaper
titles from all over
the world competed in
WAN-IFRA’s global quality
competition among which
77 publishing and printing
companies from 26 countries
achieved membership in INCQC
2014-16. Membership to the
club is an added advantage for
the newspaper houses as they
now draw on this distinction to
optimise their work processes,
motivate their personnel ,
improve their standing among
readers and convince demanding
advertising customers. In fact,
being member of the club offers
opportunities to demonstrate that
they can now produce newspaper
printing in outstanding quality
and offer readers and advertisers
high-quality products. They
achieve this by aligning
production with international
standards, thus enabling them to
reliably reproduce colour images
and advertisements consistently
with the intended colour effects.
International standards
INCQC is more than a technical
printing competition, as it offers
the participating companies
the additional possibility to
benchmark their printing quality
against recognised international
standards and improve it.
Detailed individual reports basis
for quality optimisation founded
on objective measuring methods
and quality judgements by a
jury composed of international
experts. Manfred Werfel, Deputy
CEO, WAN-IFRA remarks,

successful personnel motivation,
correct choice of material,
in-depth knowledge of the
setting parameters for the
entire workflow as well as their
skilled use of measuring and
control techniques.
INCQC is the only worldwide
printing quality competition
for newspapers. Its goal is
to improve the quality of
reproduction and printing
in production, while also
increasing competitiveness as
well as training and motivating
all personnel. The competition
has been held every two years
since 1994 and multiple winners
and participants in certification
project also have the prospect
of being awarded membership
of the Star Club.
At thi syear’s World
Publishing Expo to be staged
in Amsterdam (October 13-15,
2014), all the winners will
be honoured with a formal
awards ceremony.
