Daily Mail appoints first influencer correspondent

British daily middle-market tabloid Daily Mail has announced the appointment of Molly Clayton as influencer correspondent. The role of the influencer reflects the changing landscape of celebrity culture. Molly began her career as a Mail trainee in 2020 and quickly rose through the ranks, joining The Mail on Sunday as a news reporter in 2021. In January 2024, she joined the digital-first, seven-day showbiz department as showbusiness correspondent, where she has made a significant impact, added the publisher.

In 2022, Molly won the ‘30 to Watch’ awards and was also nominated for both Young Campaigner of the Year and Young Journalist of the Year at the UK Press Awards. According to Daily Mail earlier this year, Molly identified an opportunity to engage with the influencer community. Her investigative features and news reports have stripped away the veneer on the influencer world, exposing the truth behind the glossy public personas, and driven a significant surge in Mail+ subscriptions across both UK and US markets, the publisher continued.
