Ad space in print dropped 16 percent during Q1 2019

In the Indian Readership Survey (IRS) Q1 2019 released recently, it was made clear that print is growing constantly with 1.8 crore people joining the readership since the last report was out. However, according to the data from TAM AdEx data, ad space in the sector during the quarter dropped 16 percent compared to the first quarter of 2018.

During Q1 2019, more than 71,000 advertisers advertised for over 85,000 brands across over 650 categories in print. But there has been decline in the number of categories, advertisers and brands in the first quarter this year vis-à-vis 2018. In the period January-March 2018, there were 678 categories, 74,693 advertisers and 90,009 brands. This year, the categories went down to 657, advertisers to 71,265 and brands to 85,611.
