Business Standard president to be president of INS

Akila Urankar, current president of Business Standard, is all set to become president of the Indian Newspaper Society (INS). Currently she is serving the society in the capacity of deputy president. In the reshuffle process, Jayant Mammen Mathew, chairman of KLRC, who at present is VP of INS, will be the new deputy president of the society. Akila has worked 20 years of her career with Business Standard as she joined the newspaper in 1995 as GM of the Mumbai edition. After two years, she was promoted to VP-circulation, and in 1999 she took over as COO of the newspaper. In the process, she attained the role of president of Business Standard in 2002. Now all is geared up for her to head INS, which acts as the central organisation authenticating circulation figures of newspapers and periodicals in India since the society’s inception in 1939.
